Endoline Machinery confident of increasing sales
10 July 2009
Endoline Machinery Ltd is confident that the recent economic downturn will not affect their business in the medium-term. With several large orders placed in the last few months, MD Alan Yates is happy with the way things are going.
‘After a tricky start to the year, we are feeling pleased with our recent sales performance, and the factory is busy. We’ve restructured the sales office to focus more on our customers and we’re keeping up our marketing activity to ensure a steady flow of leads. While some traditional markets are stagnating or shrinking, we’re developing business overseas and in new growth markets in the UK. Forecasts are looking positive for the rest of 2009.’
One growth area is online. Endoline has recently won several contracts to supply online retailers with end of line packaging machinery, and is planning to develop this market during the rest of 2009.
‘We saw the potential of order fulfilment a few years ago, and given the current economic downturn this is becoming a growth area, particularly with online retailers’ comments Alan. ‘As consumers have less to spend, they are searching around for the best deal, which is often found on the web.’
To date Endoline have supplied case sealing machines to three major online businesses, with the latest order being for twenty type 714 semi-automatic random case tapers to one of the world’s largest online retailers. The machines will be used to seal a range of different sized cases packed with a wide range of products such as books, CDs and DVDs. Endoline are now discussing the possibility of rolling out the same machines for their French and German operations.
Alan explains ‘The random machines are ideal for this type of operation. Online retailers are often packing a wide range of products in to a wide range of different sized cases. Therefore they need a case sealer that can handle random case sizes very easily without affecting throughput speeds.’
In addition Endoline have supplied hand-packing stations to two other online retailers handling wine and healthcare products. These hand-packing stations are ergonomically designed to reduce the effort required to hand pack a wide variety of products by ensuring that products, people and packaging are arranged in the most efficient way possible.
Endoline also enjoyed a successful exhibition at Auspack in Sydney in June, with several new orders being placed for the Versapack case erecting and packing system – a joint venture with Quin systems. Walls Machinery, Endoline’s Australian distributor, had worked hard to create excitement in the market for this innovative new machine and it paid great dividends.
